Weald & Downland Wedding Preview

Some weddings feel like a perfect reflection of the couple from the moment you arrive, and Megan and Leo’s celebration at Weald & Downland Living Museum was exactly that.

Set amongst the beautiful Sussex countryside, the stunning Downland Gridshell provided an incredible backdrop for a day that was packed with music, laughter, colour, and some seriously lovely people. With over 100 guests joining them during the day and even more arriving for the evening celebrations, it was clear from the outset just how loved these two are.

Megan and Leo first met while studying Popular Music at Goldsmiths University, so it’s no surprise that music played such a huge role throughout the day. Rather than a traditional first dance, they opted for a “first song” together, a fitting choice for two professional musicians who have built so much of their lives around creating and performing music.

The venue itself was a dream. Wanting somewhere that captured the feeling of Cornwall’s Eden Project while remaining close to their home in Sussex, they found the perfect balance at Weald & Downland. Surrounded by nature, woodland and beautiful architecture, it gave their guests plenty of space to relax, explore and celebrate.

There were personal touches everywhere. Megan’s bridesmaids each wore their own black dresses, creating a stylish and relaxed look alongside bouquets bursting with colour. The couple accidentally discovered they’d created a green and pink colour scheme — very much the colours of Wicked — which felt especially appropriate considering Megan’s love of musical theatre and Leo’s recent tour work on the musical.

The morning preparations were full of excitement. Alongside hair and makeup, Megan and her bridal party enjoyed a unique illustration session from CWB Illustration, capturing some wonderful moments before the celebrations began.

Family was at the heart of the day too. From emotional moments with parents and grandparents to plenty of laughter between siblings, the atmosphere felt warm, relaxed and incredibly welcoming. Special mention goes to Leo’s grandmother Liz and Megan’s grandad Dennis, who were treasured members of the celebrations and featured throughout the day.

Following the ceremony, guests spilled out into the sunshine for drinks, canapés and plenty of hugs before enjoying an incredible meal. As the evening rolled around, the dance floor quickly filled thanks to live music from Rockets Collective, with friends and family making the most of every song.

As photographers, these are the days we love most. A beautiful venue, an amazing group of people, genuine emotion, and a couple who never stopped smiling at each other.

Here’s a little preview from Megan and Leo’s incredible wedding at Weald & Downland Living Museum. There are so many more moments still to come, but for now, enjoy a small glimpse into a truly brilliant day.

Congratulations Megan & Leo — thank you for having us along to capture it all.

Come over and say hello!
