Film Diaries: This months film round up

Monthly Film Round-Up: Looking Back on a Summer of Weddings

As the evenings draw in and wedding season winds down, the best part is getting to look back. These rolls were shot during the busiest stretch of the year.

I was lucky enough to work at some beautiful venues this summer. There were grand gardens at Sandon Hall and festival-style woodland celebrations at Camp Katur. There were rustic barn days at Cissbury Barns, Preston Court and Oak Tree Barn, and a wonderfully relaxed wedding at Canary Shed. Every venue had its own character, and film picked up the different light and atmosphere of each in its own way.

As always, I had a mix of 35mm and 120 film with me. My trusty Canon A-1 did most of the heavy lifting, the Lomo LCA 120 came out for portraits, and the Olympus Mju stayed in my pocket for the in-between moments. There was also a new kid on the block this summer: the Nikon Lite Touch. It’s a little point-and-shoot that quickly earned its place in my bag, and it was perfect for grabbing candid moments on the dance floor and during drinks receptions without anyone noticing. I’ve loved what it’s produced, and I suspect it’s here to stay.

Summer light and film are a perfect match. Highlights glow, skin tones are warm and the grain is soft, so even the busiest moments feel calm and nostalgic.

Below is a selection of my favourite frames from a summer of weddings on film.

Thank you to every couple who let me bring my film cameras along this summer. If you’re planning your 2027 wedding and love the look of film, I’d love to hear from you.

Come over and say hello!
