Camcorder Hire / Real VHS-C Wedding Videos Filmed by Your Guests //

Picture this: your nan doing the macarena, your best mate narrating the speeches like a nature documentary, and confetti exploding all over a fuzzy little screen with a WEDDING DAY date stamp in the corner. That’s camcorder hire, and it’s one of the most fun things I’ve ever added to a wedding day.

real tapes, real 90s

I’m not talking about a filter slapped on a phone video. I use proper JVC GR camcorders that record onto actual VHS-C tapes, the little compact VHS cassettes your parents had in a drawer somewhere. You get the tracking lines, the soft colours, the glowing highlights, the chunky on-screen date and the whir of a real tape running.

It’s not that crisp noughties digicam look either. This is pure 90s home video, the kind you’d watch round your auntie’s at Christmas.

● REC

pass it round

You get at least four camcorders on the day, and your guests pass them round between them. Mates film each other on the dance floor, your mum grabs a sneaky bit of the speeches, someone inevitably does a full piece to camera at the bar.

You end up with the bits I’d never see from behind my own camera, filmed by the people who love you most.

no tech skills needed

Don’t worry if nobody’s touched a camcorder since 1997. I’m there all day to help: loading tapes, showing people where the record button is and keeping things rolling, so you don’t have to think about it at all.
