Amy & Tommy: A Boho Rustic Wedding at Oak Tree Barn, Tonbridge

Amy and Tommy’s wedding at Oak Tree Barn in Tonbridge was all about their favourite things: good music, good food and plenty of laughter with the people they love most. With around 120 guests, a classic black and white colour scheme and a dance floor that kicked off with Usher, it was a celebration that was completely them.

How it all began

Amy and Tommy were introduced by Tommy’s sister. Some of the best love stories start with a little help from family! They share a love of music, holidays, working out and eating at good restaurants. At home you’ll find them watching films, Gogglebox, Grand Designs or anything to do with cooking. Tommy also has a love of every sport going, which Amy says she “endures” and pretends to watch. What gets them laughing most is taking the mick out of each other, being with their friends and watching the kids being silly. That easy, fun-loving energy was there all day.

Why Oak Tree Barn?

They fell for Oak Tree Barn’s boho rustic feel, its outdoor space and all the quirky little corners around the grounds. It’s a venue made for a relaxed, documentary-style wedding, with something interesting to frame everywhere you look. Hosting everything in one place meant the day could flow from getting ready to the ceremony to the party without anyone needing to get in a car.

Black, white and timeless

The look was classic and elegant. Amy wore a lace gown with a corset top and sleeves from Made with Love Bridal, finished with a veil. Her make-up was by Makeup by Vikki. Tommy and the groomsmen wore sharp black tuxedos, with Tommy’s from Reiss. Amy’s six bridesmaids, Kelly, Lauren, Laura, Hayley, Sienna and Dolly, wore black dresses, and flower girl Darcy completed the line-up. The white flowers by Petal & Palm stood out beautifully against all that black.

The ceremony

Amy and Tommy were married at Oak Tree Barn in the early afternoon, with Tommy’s best man Jonny by his side. Annouska’s music before and after the ceremony set the scene perfectly, and then it was time for the drinks reception in the sunshine.

Food, drinks and a party

The wedding breakfast came from The Hungry Hog, and the cake was from The Cheese Shop in Tunbridge Wells. In the evening The Function Band took over, and their first dance was to “Superstar” by Usher. These two love garage, old-school tunes and pretty much anything from the 70s, 80s and 90s, so the dance floor filled up quickly. A big thank you as well to Lydia, the venue coordinator, who kept everything running smoothly all day.

Amy and Tommy, thank you so much for having me as part of your day. It was full of love, laughter and great music, just like the two of you.
